My ceramics and abstract paintings are both vital to me as an artist, giving me the platforms to explore both mediums in a response to nature and the environment. When painting, I concentrate on putting down layers and textures to create abstract images which come from both observation and memory. Yet when working in ceramics, I encourage the textured effects within the reactive glazing processes to create an unusual organic surface. I find the relationships between the two processes to be synergistic and invaluable to the development of my work.
